New Jersey police officers suffer work-related injuries

Many businesses and municipal services implement strict guidelines and procedures to ensure their employees are able to work in a safe environment. Unfortunately, accidents can still happen in almost any profession. Three New Jersey law enforcement officials recently suffered work-related injuries while on duty in Seaside Park.

The three officers were helping to secure an area that was in close proximity of a major fire. Serious injures were suffered by all three individuals when they were flung from the back of a truck that was leaving the scene. It is thought to have been a vehicle malfunction that caused a bench to break off of the truck and eject the victims onto the roadway.

One officer's head slammed against a curb, while another struck a metal sign as he was falling. The third individual fell directly onto the pavement. All three of the authority figures were immediately rushed to local hospitals, where one remains in critical condition. Two of the victims were said to have sustained head injuries from the accident.

It could be a significant amount of time before any of the police officers from this unfortunate incident are physically and emotionally able to return to work. New Jersey laws allow for individuals who have suffered work-related injuries to file a workers' compensation claim. Working with someone experienced and knowledgeable can ensure that the process moves quickly with minimal difficulties. Compensation from an approved claim can help to cover medical expenses, along with a stipend for missed time from employment while focused on recovery.
