New Jersey readers will most likely agree that being married is challenging enough for people who are not famous. It might be fair to say that Hollywood celebrities -- and other people who live their lives in the public eye -- have an additional challenge that can easily stress even the best relationship. That could be why Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner guard their relationship from the public -- even now that they are planning to divorce.
Shortly after their 10th wedding anniversary, the couple released a short statement indicating that they were getting divorced. The couple announced that they intend to remain amicable throughout the process and after. They intend to co-parent their three children, ages three, six and nine.
One source who claims to be close to the couple reported that Affleck and Garner have committed to using mediation. Hopefully, they will be able to come to a settlement with which they can both be satisfied. This is the same hope that thousands of couples across the country have as they enter the divorce process.
In today's society, more couples desire to settle their issues without needing the intervention of the court. Many New Jersey couples will use mediation or divorce collaboration as an alternative to being in the courtroom. This allows them to maintain control over how their property and debts are divided as well as how they will parent their children after the divorce. A divorce settlement can be tailored to the needs of the parties, and if there are children involved, a parenting plan can be created that allows each parent to continue to be a part of the children's lives.
